It wasn't laser treatment that you had, they just replaced the lens. You have... you have artificial lenses as it were.
Jackie: So Jemma, it wasn't laser treatment that you had, they just replaced the lens. You have... you have artificial lenses as it were.
Jemma: Yes, that's right.
Jackie: What do you think about laser treatment though? Do you think it's a good idea for people?
Jemma: I think in some cases, possibly yes because if you really hate wearing glasses and you... and some people can't get on with contact lenses, some people don't like the thought of having to touch their eyes to take the lens out every day and to clean them. Therefore it can be useful but you have a lot of people that um... have struggled with cloudiness and double vision after they've had the laser surgery, so I would still be quite cautious of that, whereas because I had the cataract and they actually got rid of my own lens and replaced it with a new one there was no side effects at all and the tests seem to say that these will last for a good sort of thirty years without having any side effects at all so from that point of view it's been fantastic.
