I decided on its shape first. I just chose a flat one because it was virtually the most basic structure and could be easily carried around. Then I got a sheet of coloured paper and cut out the shape.
My nephew got thin plastic strips for me. I tied them together with a string, which apparently would be the frame of the kite. After that, we made the bridle which connected the frame to the control line. Finally, I glued the paper to the frame.
It seemed to be an arduous work as it took me a whole afternoon to finish it but finally it turned out to be quite rewardful. The kite flew pretty well in the garden the next day. Our hard work paid off. I chose a hand work as a gift because I reckoned it more precious for my nephew than the toys bought in the shops. Besides, doing a hand work offered me and my nephew an opportunity to experience the simple pleasures of life.

Yes. I really love to be gifted handmade things. I received a beautiful wool scarf made by my best friend last year for my birthday. I think that choosing the right gift for your loved one can be difficult, and you absolutely want your choices become useful instead of serving no purpose. Then at that time, handmade gifts are the best choice. This kind of present is an expression of love and also present how important that person is that you spend their time and effort to create a unique thing for him or her.

Actually, I always choose handmade products to present my friends or my family members. However, my busy schedules prevent me from spending time to do them by myself. Therefore, I usually buy gifts from stores that customize my orders, not souvenir shops that sell massive products.

Well. It’s such an interesting question. As far as I concern, handicrafts or handmade things are usually considered feminine. However, from my perspective, girls and boys have the same position for this kind of work because of their consistency and meticulousness which can be shown on preparing gifts for their love or certain purposes.

My country has a great reputation for traditional handicraft products and villages. There are five typical types of handicrafts, namely pottery, mat weaving, silk weaving, wood-carving and bronze casting. People may have no difficulty to find out shops that sell all that kinds of products on the streets, they show up every corner. Foreign visitors also love to buy these as souvenirs to mark their memorable trip in Vietnam.

5. What are the differences between handicrafts and products made by machines?
The big difference between these two kinds of products is their uniqueness. Machine-made products will have the same look because they come from the same molds. However, the man-made ones are made by hands and they often get the little different look compared to the same product by the same maker.

The reason for that is handmade products bear sophisticated patterns that no machine-made ones can compare to. Furthermore, people still have a love for handicrafts. Therefore, when there is demand, there will be supply.

7. Have you received anything that was made by the giver?
Yes. I really love to be gifted handmade things. I received a beautiful wool scarf made by my best friend because my friend was so thoughtful when presenting me that scarf. She totally understood my sense of fashion and my need. I was eager for a purple wool scarf or a wool cardigan for that winter and my friend knew me so well. I was so moved when receiving it. Because it looked gorgeous with hot trend violet color and bore my friend’s love and her meticulousness for me.
