You should say:
- What you borrowed
- When you borrowed it
- Whom you borrowed it from
- And explain why you borrowed it
Well this task card reminds me of several occasions when I had to borrow something useful and important from others, but I would go with the story of borrowing a book from my close friend, which came first in my mind.
I decided to take the IELTS test for my studying purpose and struggled with finding a real page turner that can help IELTS learners gain a deep understanding about this exam as well as have a good source to practice with actual tests. Fortunately, my close friend is a high IELTS scorer and she recommended me to use a book called The official guide to IELTS published by Cambridge publisher. Then, I asked her to borrow her old book because I knew that she would never use it again and I myself can take advantage of her old notes
The target readers of this book are learners at intermediate level. It includes two main parts, with the first part including all basic information, sharing, tips and short exercices to combat different question types in all four skills. I was quite impressed by some videos illustrating the IELTS Speaking procedure this book has. The second part is a combination of eight full tests for students to practice before sitting a real exam.
I read it from cover to cover and realized it one of the most reliable and useful books I have ever read in my life. I couldn't put it down since I could not only increase my confidence but also widen my knowledge. I see my time management skills improve much and hope that I can pass this exam with flying colors J
All in all, I greatly appreciate her kindness which helps me a lot in the preparing process for
this test. There is no word to describe how useful this book is to me.
1. Do you often borrow things?
Yes, every once in a while. Most of the time, I just borrow stuff from my close friends or relatives because we know each other pretty well, I feel comfortable to use their stuff for a while and they trust me enough to lend out their things.

2. Why do people borrow things instead of buying?
Well, I think people choose not to pay for things because of 2 main reasons. First of all, they don’t wanna spend money on things they don’t usually use. It’s such a waste of money. For example, my father doesn’t have a home toolkit because it costs an arm and a leg and only comes in handy every now and then when some appliances act up. Instead, he often borrows tools from a handyman next door. Secondly, some people, especially those who follow minimalist lifestyle don’t wanna possess too many unnecessary things. They only buy what they use on a daily basis so they have to borrow other stuff. For instance, my sister only wears high heels once in a blue moon so everytime she needs them, she uses mine instead of buying new ones.

Well, I think there are two main issues when people don’t get back what they lend out.
The first one is that the person losing theirs thing may lose faith in the borrower because failing to give back what they borrow is a sign of an irresponsible and untrustworthy person. For example, I remember there was one time when I lent my friend a book and she never returned it. Since then, I’ve always refused to let her use any of my stuff. Another problem is that it would negatively affect the relationship between the two people. This is because people would feel upset when losing their things. What’s more, the more valuable the thing borrowed, the harder the feelings. This would create awkwardness or uncomfortable situation when they meet each other. My neighbor is a good example for this, he can’t stay in the same room with his cousins ever since he lent his cousin a large amount of money and never got it back.
